Package Care Limited was founded in 1978, to source packaging machinery and materials for MJF Group's internal use. As others followed the MJF Group’s pioneering steps, Package Care Limited became the dominant supplier of machinery, materials and technical know-how. Our applied expertise gained in the tea industry helped us to supply machinery to major industries such as textiles, tobacco, pharmaceuticals and FMCGs.


The Origin of Dilmah Tea & Package Care Limited
Dilmah Tea was created by Merrill J Fernando, the founder of the MJF Group. He named Dilmah after his two sons, Dilhan and Malik. He realized that in order for Dilmah Tea to succeed, packaging would play a vital role in giving him the edge to compete globally and as a result Package Care Limited was incorporated.

He also ventured into printing and flexible packaging establishing Print Care Limited, Universal Packaging Ltd and Packages Lanka Limited. Combined, it is the largest packaging operation in Sri Lanka.

Dilmah is now the most successful tea brand in the tea growing world and is considered a case study in the export marketing of a Third World commodity.
